Can He Trust You?

I know last week’s blogpost came up MIA; I can’t really say it’s been a lot going on, because that’s ALWAYS the case, but it’s really catching up to me, I’m staying tired/exhausted. Nevertheless, I’m back and boy are there some things ready to be translated to paper.

Last week, our church participated in a fast.  We fasted from certain foods, some from pieces of social media, and anything that takes time away from God.  The focus of this fast was reliability.

It’s crazy how when you think you have it all together, God will send a reminder to “pump your brakes” or slow down, so to speak.

Reliability means just what it says: the act of being reliable.  Reliable is defined as the ability to be trusted to do or provide what is needed; the ability to be believed.  So my question is simple:  Can God trust you to do what is needed?
Before you answer with an emphatic “YES!”…I need you to stop and think about it for more than a second.
Complete a self-check:
  • Do I do all God has told me to do?  Even the things I don’t want to do?
  • Do I have follow-through once I begin an assignment?
  • Do I accurately listen when I’ve been given an assignment?
  • If you’re a part of a local assembly of believers, do I assist my Pastor in carrying out the vision God has given him?
    • Where is my commitment level? Does my own agenda supersede the agenda for the church (ministry) I’ve been called to?

All of those are a part of being committed, accountable, trustworthy and reliable.  If our prayer is for God to use us, then our answers should be yes, if that’s you then GREAT!  (I highly doubt if there is an enormous number who can answer “yes”). If we can’t answer all of the above questions with a yes, then how can He rely on us to carry out all that He’s asked of us.

The Apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 4:2

“Now in this way those who are trusted with something valuable must show they are worthy of that trust.”

How do you show God He can trust you?

  1. Show yourself FAITHFUL.  Do what He’s asked of you; Go where’s He sends you; take care of the things He’s given you (ministry, church, leadership positions etc); Don’t leave your work undone to go handle someone else’s.
  2. Always ACCURATELY self-reflect. So many of us state we self-reflect and we don’t.  We don’t want to see or realize we’re flawed.  Or we take every opportunity to blame someone else for our mess-ups.
  3. Trust God.  It is when we trust God fully, that our faith, commitment and accountability kick in.  If you trust Him with YOUR ALL, He can trust you to do ALL you can for Him.
Be committed.  Be accountable.  Be responsible
