There comes a time in everyone’s life when there are certain people, things, places, lifestyles, or habits that must be let go. Whether you’re going thru a period of spiritual growth or maturing in areas of your life, there are current situations, places, and people that won’t fit or make it to your next level with you. It doesn’t mean you don’t love them; it just means where God is taking you they’re not ready to go. Does it hurt? It can. But what’s more important: Your elevation and effective ministry? or Being complacent in being stagnant with ineffective ministry?
In two separate conversations today, the word “growth” came up several times. It wasn’t until I got home and began to think about the conversations that I realized the underlying message in the conversations were for me. Spiritual Growth and Maturity…As my relationship with Christ deepens, my spiritual eyes are opened. I’m beginning to see things in people, habits, and places that I hadn’t seen before. It’s not that those things weren’t there before, but God has opened my eyes to them.
My husband is in the middle of a message series entitled “He’s Preparing Me for Birthing”…the series covers all things required or attached when God is getting ready to birth something through or in you. This series has been a true blessing. What I’ve come to understand through these first 2 messages is the decisions we have to make in preparation for “labor” aren’t always the easiest. Just when a woman is about to give birth, not everyone can be in the delivery room…it’s the same way with our elevation. We have to make a conscious decision to change or we could possibly miss our opportunity for elevation.
I type this as tears stream my face, because I’ve dealt with it and am dealing with this presently. It never gets any easier. The person/people may be good people, just NOT good for you. I’ve resigned to the fact that I would much rather please God than man.
As difficult as it may be, watch your elevation continue, after being obedient.
The thing is you want better for the people God has shown you to pull back from, but they don’t see better for themselves (spiritually blind). So how do you help them see better? There’s no perfect (as we see perfect) answer to that question; they have to WANT to deepen their relationship with Christ…allow correction and conviction…before they’ll be able to have TRUE spiritual sight. Colossians 1:9-10 gives us insight into what we should do. PRAY. PRAYER is the answer…
9 Because of this, since the day we heard about you, we have continued praying for you, asking God that you will know fully what he wants. We pray that you will also have great wisdom and understanding in spiritual things 10 so that you will live the kind of life that honors and pleases the Lord in every way. You will produce fruit in every good work and grow in the knowledge of God.
I’ve said in several prior blogs that PRAYER CHANGES THINGS. Pray for their eyes to be opened. Pray for their spiritual maturity. Pray for their growth. Pray for wisdom. Pray for strength. Pray for understanding.
To the stagnant one(s):
I pray you begin to see your lack of maturity and seek wisdom. I pray you grow spiritually and in your relationship with Christ. I pray you begin to truly right your wrongs. If the lack of maturity is a cover-up for something deeper, I pray for strength, courage, and confidence to uncover your mess. I pray you allow God to work in and strengthen the “inner you”.
Seek WISDOM. GROW. MATURE.
